Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board

Overview

In Canada, the engineering profession sets standards for engineering education, which it monitors rigorously through the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board (CEAB). A CEAB-accredited degree is the minimum academic requirement for registration as a professional engineer anywhere in Canada, and the standard against which all other engineering academic qualifications are measured. APEGM normally accepts graduates of CEAB-accredited programs as being academically qualified for registration.

A graduate of a non-CEAB-accredited program must demonstrate that his or her education is at least equivalent to that of a graduate of a CEAB-accredited program. An applicant is first invited to make application for the assessment (or, in the case of CEAB-recognized foreign degrees, the verification assessment) of his or her academic credentials by APEGM.

The CEAB was established by Engineers Canada in 1965.
