Looking Back Through Our Century: April 8, 2012
The Southwest Transitway, Winnipeg's bus rapid transit dedicated roadway, commenced operation on April 8, 2012. The first section was constructed parallel to the railway tracks running southwest from Queen Elizabeth Way at The Forks to Pembina Highway at Jubilee Avenue. Starting April 12, 2020, BLUE, the city's 11-kilometre Southwest Transitway will provide frequent, reliable, high-speed service from downtown to the neighbourhoods of southwest Winnipeg, including the University of Manitoba and St. Norbert. Certificate of Authorizations Expire April 30
Certificate of Authorizations are set to expire April 30, 2020. Renewal notices and invoices were mailed out at the beginning of March. If your company is still providing engineering and/or geoscience services within the province of Manitoba, you are required to hold a Certificate of Authorization and you need to renew your Certificate either online or by submitting a cheque by mail. If your company is no longer providing services within the province and you would like to cancel your Certificate of Authorization, please complete the cancellation form.
Help us promote the Girl Power campaign!
With school being out, students in grade 9 and up may appreciate an extra reminder about where their math, physics, and chemistry studies can get them. The Girl Power campaign is part of the Association's efforts to increase the number of women in our professions, however, students of all genders can solve a question related to the grade 9 math and science curriculum to receive a free t-shirt. ACEC-Canada Asks Federal Government for Industry Support
The Association of Consulting Engineering Companies - Canada (ACEC-Canada) has written to the prime minister and several cabinet ministers with specific recommendations for how the consulting engineering community can retain its capacity to help the federal government mitigate the COVID-19 crisis and to support post-crisis recovery. Online Professional Development Opportunities
Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba recognizes that many practitioners are adapting to new working environments and schedules during these unprecedented times. As part of our Centennial Speaker Series, the Association in partnership with Canada Life is pleased to offer this two-hour interactive online course for a subsidized fee to our practitioners. Participants will be shown how to manage projects remotely, how to communicate successfully in a remote environment, and how to adjust important leadership qualities to a remote audience.
