Aron's Story of Engineering Hope
When Carol Remmert thinks of her father Aron, she remembers the snow castles he built. But when dementia set in, the creativity and connection began to fade. Speech slowed, balance faltered, and Aron seemed to disappear into a fog. Then Carol discovered the work of Dr. Zahra Moussavi, P.Eng., a professional engineer and biomedical professor at the University of Manitoba, who has pioneered a non-pharmaceutical approach to treat dementia. Check out their stories online.

Important Changes to Insurance Requirements in 2026
At the June 2025 Council Meeting, Council approved changes to the Association's insurance policy for Certificate of Authorization holders, which will come into force January 1, 2026. Upcoming changes include raising policy limit minimums, eliminating stipulations regarding minimum deductibles/self-insured retentions, clarifying that Manufacturer's Errors & Omissions and Contractor's Errors & Omissions policies do not qualify and are not acceptable alternatives to professional liability insurance, and eliminating exemptions for shipping, nuclear, and aviation industries. In addition, changes approved at the 2024 Annual General Meeting to By-law 18.2 require sole proprietors (members offering services to the public without a corporate entity or partnership) to carry the same level of insurance coverage as Certificate of Authorization holders.
