Applicants who have been assigned five (or fewer) examinations in addition to Engineering Economics are eligible to write the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam, instead of their confirmatory examinations.
You must seek approval prior to registering for this exam. You are allowed up to three chances to pass the exam. If you are unable to pass after three chances, your file will be re-reviewed by the Academic Review Committee. You will also be asked to take a break from writing again for at least one year.
Prior to deciding to write the FE you MUST do the following:
If you choose to register for the FE, please do the following:
This exam has frequent offerings. Once you have been approved to write this exam by Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba, you register for the exam at your own convenience through the NCEES website. Most people will have some time to review the information carefully and decide how they want to proceed. Make sure that you allow yourself enough time to study.
IMPORTANT Please note that the FE is an option for fulfilling the academic qualification, and if you choose another option you will be expected to complete that option first (or withdraw from that option if appropriate) before attempting the FE. For example, you should not do courses or exams or be enrolled in IEEQ at the same time as the scheduling of the FE.
