MIT Supervisor Guest Registration

Overview

Sometimes an MIT's direct supervisor is not a Member of the APEGM. In order for them to be able to login to the Members Website and provide their commentary for 'online' Progress Reports submitted by the MIT, the MIT must first make a request to have them create a guest profile.

To keep just anyone from being able to register profiles in the APEGM database, we have set up an 'invitation' system where one member can enter two 'Tokens' that get saved along with their APEGM ID. Then that member passes those tokens and their ID number to the person they wish to identify. The guest then goes to a certain page that the MIT tells them about that will match its input to any 'pending invitation' rows. If the tokens have not been claimed yet, the page will allow the guest to enter their identifying information, including their name, e-mail address, password, and question and answer pair incase they forget their password.

After saving the person's details, they are assigned a new APEGM ID number, which is used in conjunction with the password they chose to login to the Members Website.

This ID number should be passed to the MIT to enter into their Progress Report Details to identify their supervisor. This ID will also serve to identify that person in the future.
