Nova Scotia Court Ruling Reinforces Right to Practice Legislation
In 2021 and 2022, Mark Connors, who is not a professional engineer, sealed documents with an engineering stamp and signed off on plans as an engineer. Engineers Nova Scotia issued Mr. Connors a cease-and-desist letter and notified the police. Following investigation by the police, Mr. Connors pled guilty to committing a single count of fraud under $5,000 between 2021 and 2022 in relation to work undertaken for two proponents, contrary to section 380(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada. Competency-Based Assessors - Multiple Positions
EngGeoMB is seeking additional assessors to conduct a final review of an applicant's Competency-Based Assessment (CBA) report by providing their own ratings for each of the competencies and making a recommendation on the applicant's readiness for professional registration. We are seeking professional members who are working in a supervisory capacity and are receiving remuneration on a full-time or regular basis (greater than 300 hours per calendar year) in all engineering and geoscience disciplines, but with a specific need in the following engineering disciplines: Civil (hydrology, water resources), Mechanical (HVAC), Biomedical, and Industrial. Anti-Black Racism Training - February 8, 2024
Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba invites you to join this two-hour online anti-Black racism training facilitated by Rainbow Diversity Institute, which is offered at the subsidized registration fee of $45 plus GST. Participants will explore racial power structures, racial hierarchies, and the role of colonialism in anti-Black racism in the past and present. Council invites all members to participate in this open online engagement session discussing potential by-law changes for 2024. This engagement session will go over the By-law Change Process and potential changes will be presented for discussion and feedback.
