2025 Awards Nominations are Open!
The Association is seeking nominations for the 2025 Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba Awards. Honours are presented in ten categories and recognize outstanding Manitoba engineers and geoscientists, teams, and employers. Submit to Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba no later than Friday, February 21, 2025. The Student Achievement Award nomination deadline is Friday, May 9, 2025. Discipline Notice: Robert A. McDonald, P.Eng.
This is Notice that on April 23, 2024, Robert A. McDonald, P.Eng., was issued a reprimand following a conviction on a charge of professional misconduct. The conviction arises from Mr. McDonald's involvement in sealing and submitting structural drawings for an addition to a building at 1717 Waverley St., Winnipeg, MB. Canadian Professional Geoscientist Award: 2025 Call for Nominations
Nominations are now open for the 2025 Canadian Professional Geoscientist Award. The deadline for receipt of nominations is Friday, March 28, 2025. To be eligible for consideration, all nominations must be received at the office of Geoscientists Canada no later than the specified deadline. Career Opportunity: Manitoba Association of Architects - Executive Director
The Manitoba Association of Architects is looking for an individual to fill the position of Executive Director (ED). The Executive Director (ED) is responsible for the overall management, strategic direction, and operations of the Manitoba Association of Architects. As the primary liaison between MAA Council and the Association's staff, the ED ensures that Council's vision and directives are translated into effective operational plans. Reporting to MAA Council, the ED holds primary accountability for regulatory oversight, compliance with all applicable provincial, and federal legislation, and operational efficiency. Volunteer Opportunities
Investigation Committee
The Investigation Committee is a committee of Council and is made up of registered professionals from all disciplines, who review complaints made about the conduct of members in a timely manner and makes recommendations for discipline based on the severity of the offense. The committee also provides guidance to membership on standards of professional practice. The committee is currently looking for a professional geoscientist (P.Geo.) to join the committee. During this event presented by the India Members Chapter, Mike Toma will discuss power generation at Manitoba Hydro through hydroelectric generating stations. His presentation will cover the different types of dams, including concrete and earth fill (embankment) dams, along with their components. Uniting Minds, Mapping Futures: Western Flood Mapping Conference - Wednesday, February 19, 2025
Natural Resources Canada, ClimateWest, and the Pacific Institute for Climate Solutions has partnered to host the Western Flood Mapping Conference in Calgary in February 2025.
